City Council approves funding for the Foothills Quilt Trail

Jun 14th, 2012

In February the City Council approved funding to provide quilt blocks at the Landrum Fire Department, Landrum City Hall, Brookwood Park, and near the Landrum rail Depot. These blocks are currently being painted by the production team at the Upstate Heritage Quilt Trail in Walhalla and should be hung later this summer. The first quilt block in the city was installed over the gym at Landrum Middle School in August 2011 as a gift from the Landrum Quilters. That block honors the spirit of cooperation between the quilters and the school which hosts the club's biennial quilt show. The Landrum Quilters are working with the city to select designs for the quilt blocks which will tie in local history to the selected designs. For more information regarding this project, contact Ellen Henderson at 864 895-0908.
