Get Ready for the Annual Landrum Christmas Parade and Stroll

The City of Landrum annual Christmas Parade and Stroll will take place on December 1st from 5:00 pm to 8:30 pm. If your civic group, church, club or organization is interested in being in the Landrum Christmas Parade, please contact Ms. Kathryn Gillie at 864 457-4121 to register.

After the parade visit Landrum's many locally owned shops to pick out those Christmas presents and visit one of our many restaurants for dinner. This is a popular event so come early to pick out a great location on the parade route.

The Landrum Halloween Stroll will be held on October 29th

The Landrum Halloween Stroll be held in downtown Landrum from 5 pm to 7 pm. There will be a costume contest with prizes being awarded for the best costumes. The festivities on N. Trade Avenue will include: video games, face painting, live music, trunk or treat and game activities. Come and join in the fun!

Sweetheart Horse & Carriage Rides on October 14th, 6 to 8pm in downtown Landrum

Carriage rides will be conducted where you can be a passenger in a horse drawn carriage for $7.50 per person. There will be a story-teller onboard who will inform riders of the history, both fact and fiction, of the City of Landrum. The pick-up/drop-off point will be on Rose Lane near the Foothills Amish Furniture Store , located at 106 E. Rutherford Street. Come and enjoy the ride and after visit one of Landrum's many locally owned shops and restaurants.

Landrum Recycling will be changed to Wednesdays beginning July 6th.

Your recycled materials will be pick-up on Wednesdays instead of Thursdays beginning July 6th. Please leave out your filled recycle bin early in the morning. Don't have a recycle bin? Call the City of Landrum at 457-3000 and we will deliver one at no charge for our residential trash customers.

2011 Landrum Home & Garden Stroll

The Landrum Area Business Association and the City of Landrum present the 2011 Home & Garden Stroll - May 28th, from 10am to 5pm in downtown Landrum. Featured activities will include:
live music, antique cars, model trains, vendors, quilt displays, as well as many great bargains being offered by our area shops and businesses. The Landrum Farmers' Market will also kick off their summer season. Come, enjoy, and experience beautiful Landrum, South Carolina!

Business Solutions Meeting Rescheduled

The meeting between the Mayor, City Council, and the Landrum business community has been rescheduled to January 24th at 8:30 am in the Landrum City Hall Council Chambers at 100 N. Shamrock Avenue. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss ideas that could be implemented by the City to increase tourism and improve our economic climate.

More Residents Are Recycling in Landrum

Today, 16.5% of Landrum households are recycling. Recycling helps keep our trash disposal costs low and saves taxpayers money. More recycling keeps trash out of the landfill saving us and you landfill fees. Our trash contractor, GDS, sells the recycled item which give them some profit to help keep the fees they charge the City as low as possible. Help the environment and help minimize your trash pick-up charges by recycling. Call the Landrum City Hall today at 457-3000 to request a free recycle bin and a list on the items that can be recycled.

Landrum Police Officer dies in a car accident

Landrum Reserve Police Officer Aaron Dameron was killed in a single car accident on November 17th on Redland Road in Landrum. Officer Dameron was off-duty at the time and appears to have lost control of his vehicle due to wet road conditions. Officer Dameron began working for the City on November 11th and was a highly motivated police officer. He desired to become a full-time officer once the City had an opening and was putting in many hours as a Reserve Officer. His warm personality, smile, and sense of humor will be missed at City Hall. Aaron was 24 years old.

Yard Debris Pick-up will begin on October 13th

Yard debris pick-up will be available at no cost to Landrum City residents from October 13th 2010 through April 27, 2011 subject to the following guidelines:

1) Pick-up can occur on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month.

2) You will need to call our office the week prior to each pick-up at 457-300 requesting this service so we can schedule you.

3) We will pick up bagged leaves and tree/shrub branches no larger than 4 inches in diameter and no longer than 5 feet long.

4) Yard debris must be placed at the curb in your front yard no later than 8 AM the day of pick-up.

The Landrum Area Business Association presents the 2nd Annual Home & Garden Stroll

The 2nd Annual Home & Garden Stroll will be held on May 31st on N. Trade Avenue in downtown Landrum from 9 am to 5 pm. The Landrum Farmers' Market will also be there from 9 am till noon officially kicking off their 2010 summer season. Vendors will be there selling plants, herbs, jewelry, toys, books, soaps, art, and more. Quilts will be on display from the Landrum Quilters. There will be childrens activities including animals from Hollywild. Our area merchants will have bargains galore and our restaurants will have a variety of specials to choose from. Come and join us for this special event.

Visit the Coach House during the H&G Stroll

During the Home & Garden Stroll on May 31st, visit the Coach House at 227 E. Rutherford Street in downtown Landrum for their ice cream special. On that day you can receive one scoop of ice cream in a cone or cup for one dollar. Come and enjoy downtown Landrum!

Fire Department Open House

This Sunday, October 4th, from 2 pm to 4 pm, the Landrum Fire Department will host an open house at the fire station, 300 W. Coleman Street, to commemorate Fire Preventation Week. In addition, this is the 60th anniversary of the Landrum Fire Department.

Steps to Hope 6th Annual Fall Open Golf Tournament

This tournament will be held on November 6th (rain date November 13th). While the first three tournaments were planned to help raise funds for the final phase of their shelter renovation project, subsequent tournaments have been organized to raise money for shelter support services and community awareness.

All money raised through this event is used for food, shelter, counseling, transportation and other vital services that Steps to Hope provides for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault and other programs designed to help break the generational cycle of violence.

Come and Join Us for the Landrum Halloween Stroll

The Landrum Halloween Stroll will be held on N. Trade Avenue in downtown Landrum on October 31st from 4 pm to 8 pm. Free space is available to churches and civic groups to sell your fall items. There will be a kids, adults, and pets costume contest, and other kids contests as well. Come and visit our area merchants and be part of this event. Results of the July 23, 2009 Board of Zoning Appeals Meeting

On July 23rd the Board of Zoning Appeals denied, by a 5 to 0 vote, a request from Jill Plain for lot size variances, lot width variances, and setback variances in order to construct two single-family homes on two small lots. The lots are located near the the intersection of S. Church Avenue and Roland Street.

At the same meeting, the Board also denied by a 5 to 0 vote, a variance to allow Christopher Chestnut to park an RV trailer within the ten-foot side yard setback area. They also voted 5 to 0 to approve a variance to the 15-foot visibility triangle requirement as they believed the width of his driveway and the height of his picket fence permitted sufficient visibility for entering and exiting safely from his driveway. In addition, they did however, vote 5 to 0 to require him to relocate his fence from the Elm Street right-of-way to his front property line as they believed this action would enhance visibility and safety.

Visiting Miss South Carolina Pageant Contestants

On June 30th between 12:30pm and 5:00pm Miss South Carolina Pageant Contestants will be visiting the Landrum area with their friends and families. You will see them downtown in their white t-shirts with pink writing. The Miss South Carolina and local pageants across our State make available over $10 million dollars in cash and tuition scholarships annually, making South Carolina #1 in the Miss America Organization's Scholarship Program. Each year, tens of thousands of Miss America volunteers generate more than 500,000 hours of service to over 12,000 community service projects making Miss America one of the strongest service organizations in the country. So come on out and welcome these fine young ladies to our community.

Landrum Quilt Show

More than 100 quilts will fill the Landrum Middle School gym June 12-14 during the 2009 Landrum Quilt Show.
Sponsored by the Landrum Quilters, the biennial show will also feature displays of vintage quilts as well as those made by students at O.P. Earle Elementary School. A silent auction, boutique with gift items, drawings for baskets of fabric and for a bed-size quilt which is hand-appliqued will take place during the show.
The quilters' market with 15 vendors will offer one-stop shopping for all your quilting needs. Those attending the show will vote for their favorite entries.
Show hours are 10 am to 5 pm Friday & Saturday and 1-4 pm on Sunday. Admission is $3 with children under 12 free. The show is sponsored by the City of Landrum and the Spartanburg County Parks Department.
