RECYCLE - It's the right thing to do!

Be part of our citywide recycling program. We can pick up the following items as part of this program at no charge to you:
- aluminum cans.
- plastics such as soda and water bottles, milk jugs and detergent bottles (they have a 1 or 2 located in a triangle).
- clear, green, or brown glass.
- clean corrugated cardboard.
- newspapers (no "slick paper" magazines).

Quilting Day at Landrum Library - March 15th

The annual National Quilting Day will be celebrated Saturday, March 15th at the Landrum Library in Landrum. This special event will be hosted by the Landrum Quilters, who invite all quilters and quilt lovers to attend. Quilts will be on display, and the conference room of the Library will be set aside for quilters to work on personal projects and to assemble and show completed quilts for the Ronald McDonald House. There is no fee to attend.

State Senator Jim Ritchie to Discuss Immigration Reform

On Monday January 14th, State Senator Jim Ritchie will discuss his Senate Bill on immigration reform at the Landrum Depot, located at East Coleman Street and N. Trade Avenue in Landrum. This meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. and is open to the public. Senator Ritchie will provide insight into his bill, talk about the problems that immigration currently poses and will have a question and answer session with those in attendance.

The Brookwood Park Trail is open.

The Brookwood Park Trail is now open. We have turned a forgotten kudzu patch into an attractive amenity that can be used and enjoyed by citizens of all ages. Please come and enjoy this "walk through the park". In the near future, benches will be installed in addition to three excercise stations. After you walk the Trail, please e-mail us through our web site to let us know what you think of Landrum's newest amenity. Brookwood Park is located between Highway 14, Bomar Avenue, South Poplar Avenue, and Brookwood Drive.

Republican Candidates will speak at the Landrum Depot

The political train will be rolling into the Landum Depot on October 23rd and November 13th. Because State Senator John Hawkins has announced he is not running for the District 12 senate seat, Landrum residents can get a look at the two men who hope to fill his shoes. On October 23rd, Lee Bright will stop by the Depot to discuss what he feels will be of most importance in the upcoming election, and on November 13th, State Representative Scott Tally will stop by the Landrum Depot to relay his ideas of what is important to Landrum residents and the entire state. Both events will begin at 7 PM.

Yard Debris Pick-up for Landrum Residents

The City of Landrum is offering free yard debris pick-up beginning October 24th and will continue on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month through April 23, 2008. In order for us to pick-up your yard debris, you will need to call our office the week prior to each pick-up day (457-3000) requesting this service so we can schedule you. We are able to pick up bagged leaves, and tree branches no larger than 4 inches in diameter and no longer than 5 feet long. All yard debris shall be placed at the curb in your front yard no later than 8 am of the day of the pick-up.

2007 Landrum Quilt Show June 8 - 10

LANDRUM - More than 125 traditional designs and colorful modern interpretations will vie for top honors June 8-10 at the 2007 Landrum Quilt Show. The three-day show, held at Landrum Middle School, offers visitors the opportunity to vote for their favorite quilts, wall hangings and clothing. The show also features free demonstrations, a silent auction, boutique with items handmade by the Landrum Quilters and a merchants mall with seven vendors.
A highlight comes on Sunday with the drawing for the quilt entitled TWILIGHT IN THE GARDEN. The 90 X 100 inch quilt was pieced, appliqued and hand quilted by members of the Landrum Quilters under the supervision of Mary Margaret LeJeune.
Admission is charged. The show hours are from 10 am to 5 pm on Friday and Saturday; 1 to 4 on Sunday. The show will be held at 104 Redland Road, one block from HWY 14 in Landrum.
The Landrum Quilters are show sponsors along with the Spartanburg County Parks and Recreational Department and the City of Landrum. The Landrum Quilters, organized in 1979 as a nonprofit organization, are dedicated to encouraging the creative art of quilting.

The Landrum Farmers' Market Kicks Off Another Season

On June 9th the Landrum Farmers' Market will begin another summer season at the Landrum Depot in downtown Landrum. The Market will be open every Saturday from 7 am to 10 am till the season ends on September 22nd. The freshest produce from local farmers will be available for purchase. Come early because they sell out quickly.

Watch for changes in Brookwood Park

The City of Landrum has received a $60,000 grant from the S.C. Department of Parks, Recreation & Tourism to construct some improvements to the southern portion of Brookwood Park. These improvements include clearing kudzu and other overgrowth, construction of a walking trail, the installation of some timberform exercise equipment and the planting of additional trees. The project is underway and should be completed this summer.
